The Halo 4 release date is just days away. It has been documented that the game has already leaked and that Microsoft has actively tried to impede any news getting out. However, that has not stopped fans from posting the ending and other spoilers for the title. The title has already been available for weeks via torrents and illegally sold copies so it is no surprise that many have already finished the title and expressed their thoughts.
SPOILER ALERT
Gametuts and Se7enSin have had a number of fans and gamers post spoilers on the upcoming Xbox 360 title. Some gamers also provided their opinions on the main campaign which seemed to have mixed reception. One thing all fans seem to be agreeing on is the fact that at the end of the title Master Chief does battle with the Didact, who is a an ancient Forerunner and is the one that the Covenant believes is the god and at the climax of the fight Cortana sacrifices herself for Chief and a nuclear explosion goes off. According to Fardous27 on Gametuts, Chief survives the nuclear explosion thanks to some upgrade he experience form the Librarian, a character in the game.
But the biggest spoiler of all is that at the end of the game, 343 Industries took the bold move of doing something never done before in a Halo game: they revealed a hint of master Chief's face. Not only did the aforementioned sites mention this but Cinemablend also offered up the same spoiler. It will be interesting to see how the Halo community responds to this as Chief's lack of an identity has allowed for him to be an everyman. Of course he has come under criticism for lacking any real humanity and it is possible that the developers decided to show it off to fix this mounting critique of the iconic character.
Posters on the fan boards seemed to be a bit split on the title. Rich123321 stated that "It felt very foreign to me. It didn't feel like halo but it WAS halo. I absolutely love halo but the campaign for me wasn't that breathtaking." Rich 123321 added that "It was just a giant slush of campaign. It also felt repetitive enemy wise. Always using the light rifle and magnum against the 3 typical forerunner enemies." On a positive note however "Multiplayer is a ton of fun."
Another poster Zero Cool added "I am so happy to see that I am not the only one who felt the game was missing something. A lot of things that were happening left me scratching my brain. Halo 3 had a much better campaign."
UC Monk also expressed some disappointment and stated "I didn't find it short by any means, but I had much higher hopes for H4 than what it turned out to be. I'm still slightly disappointed to say the least."
Fardous27 had a completely different opinion on the title: "Anyways, great game I loved it. Made me get into the Halo storyline again even after a long 5 year break with no master chief."
Halo 4 will arrive on November 6 for the Xbox 360.
