After heavy speculation throughout the summer, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display has been revealed.

The debut was made during Apple's October keynote event from San Jose on Tuesday, which was streamed live via Apple.com.

According to Apple Inc.'s Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phillip Schiller, "The 13-inch MacBook Pro is our most popular Mac, and today it gets completely reinvented with a new thin and light design, fast flash storage and a gorgeous Retina display. With vivid colors, razor sharp text and more pixels than anyone else's 15 or 17-inch notebooks, the Retina display completely changes what you expect from a notebook."

Compared to its older sibling, the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, there are some similarities but also distinctive differences.

One of the obvious differences is the screen size. In specifics, the 13-inch version's display is 13.3-inches with LED-backlit Retina Display with 2,560x1,600 pixels.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display also has a LED-backlit display but with 15.4-inches and a pixel resolution of 2,880x1,8000.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display is 0.75-inch thin, that is 0.04 more than the 15-inch.

The 13-inch, however, weighs less at 3.57 pounds to the 15-inch's 4.46 pounds.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display uses up to 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, but the 13-inch uses the same processor but at 2.9GHz.

The 13-inch has 8GB memory while the 15-inch has up to 16GB, but both allow 768GB of flash storage.

The battery life for the two MacBooks can last up to seven hours of wireless web and 30 days of standby time, after it's fully charged.

The 13-inch variant of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display uses a 74-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery while the 15-inch variant uses the 95-watt.

Other similar features the two MacBooks have are two Thunderbolt ports, two USB 3 ports, FaceTime HD camera, Bluetooth version 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and the OS X Mountain Lion with iLife.

When it comes to prices, the 13-inch starts at $1,699 and the 15-inch starts at $2,199.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display is available for purchase as of today with free shipping.
