Story details about the upcoming "Mass Effect 4" have leaked online. According to Cinema Blend, the details were revealed by an unidentified Reddit user who allegedly participated in an online survey.
Here are some of the details revealed in the Reddit post:
First, the game would take place in a so called Helius Cluster which is described as a "a cluster of 100s of solar systems in the Andromeda Galaxy...far removed by time and space from Commander Shepard's heroic acts and the final events of the Mass Effect trilogy."
Based on the details leaked, the player will be a "pathfinder" who is out on an expedition in Helius cluster to make a new home for humans. During the trip, the main character would be "collecting resources and building colonies" while facing different types of alien races.
"To survive and colonize the wild reaches of space, you will need to grow your arsenal, your ship, your crew and make strategic (and often uneasy) alliances to fight against increasingly menacing foes. Along the way, you will encounter the remains of a once powerful and mysterious alien race, the Remnant, whose forgotten technology holds the key to gaining power in this region of the galaxy. As you uncover who the Remnant were, and the mysteries their ruins contain, you are drawn into a violent race to find the source of their forgotten technology that will determine the fate of humanity," it added.
According to the leaked details, a gamer will be able to recruit at least seven distinct crew members throughput the entire game. The post also detailed that "Mass Effect 4" has a so-called "Horde Multiplayer" which allows up to four players fighting against galaxy enemies.
Cinema Blend and PC Gamer are both doubting the leaked details, advising fans to take these information with a grain of salt.
Industry analyst from Wedbush Securities Michael Pachter earlier predicted that the new "Mass Effect" game installment would come out in the first quarter of 2016.
"EA's strong presence on the next-gen consoles positions the company to thrive in coming years...FY:16 is expected to feature incremental releases 'Mass Effect 4', 'Mirror's Edge 2', a new 'Need For Speed' game, and 'Star Wars: Battlefront', as well as meaningful re-orders for Battlefield Hardline, which launched in late Q4:15," Video Gamer quoted Pachter.
Earlier, the International Business Times reported that there are speculations that a "fresh" protagonist might come in the new game. Speculations tell that the new protagonist won't be another version of Commander Shepard and that it won't be a "direct continuation of the Commander's story." Bioware has yet to confirm these rumors.
