The next Sony Xperia Z phone is expected to be an all metal device with a fingerprint sensor, according to the recent reports circulating online. The reports which we found on GSM Arena, Phone Arena, and Techno Buffalo seem to be citing only one source -- Vizi Leaks.
Vizi Leaks' claims about the alleged Z3 Neo might be supported by an earlier report from GSM Arena which revealed that the speculations about the Z4 actually points to a different handset, the revamped Z3. The report also said that the Z3 Neo is set for a May or June launch. The "real" Z4 on the other hand is reportedly to be unveiled this September or in November.
According to Pocket Lint, if we are to assume that the rumors regarding the Xperia Z4 really points to the Xperia Z3 Neo, then we can expect the new device to have a 5.1-inch Full HD screen, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 3GB of RAM, a 32GB storage, and a 20.7-megapixel main camera.
However, this list is not entirely the same with the specs provided by GSM Arena. "Whatever the name, the next high-end Xperia is set to pack a 5.2 inch screen (either 1080p or QHD), Snapdragon 810 chipset with 4GB of RAM, the usual 20.7MP camera and the IP68 waterproofing."
Tech Radar on the other hand reported that the next Z4 would have "thinner top and bottom bezels" citing Phone Arena. Plus, Tech Radar also aired the speculation of Sony releasing a Walkman edition of the Xperia Z4.
Tim Harrison, Sony's Vice President of Global Communications and PR, earlier told Trusted Reviews that the tech giant would indeed be releasing an Xperia Z4.
"Z4 is the next-generation of product that we'll be announcing," he said. He also cleared that they are not shifting its release cycle. "No, we haven't moved to a more traditional 12 month product cycle."
When asked why the company had not yet unveiled the device back then, Harrison said that this might be caused by the continuing success of the Xperia Z3.
Aside from these reports, there are also rumors that at least three other devices -- Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, and Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra -- would also come out soon.
