With only eight days remaining before the release of Assassin's Creed 3, the opening cinematic for the game has been leaked, according to Game Rant.
The video (seen below) provides a nice recap of what has happened in the series thus far, but the sequence, narrated by William Miles, places a great deal of emphasis on Desmond and even hints at his importance to humanity. This obviously is an interesting fact considering that Desmond has seemingly lost favor with many people. William recaps how Desmond denied his heritage and it almost cost him his life. Then he describes his abduction by the Abstergo/Templars who wanted him to help them find the Apple. He relates the Animus and its power to help people relive the lives of their ancestors. Then he hints something "larger than the assassin's and templars are approaching." Something that he narrates could be the end of humanity and the world at large. The ominous date is December 21,2012. "In the end it all comes down to him. Desmond," William states.
Finally he hints at Desmond standing at the entrance of a "long lost place" armed with "the knowledge of Altair and the abilities of Ezio." He ends the cinematic by stating that "His name is Desmond Miles and he has brought us to the end." Game Rant questions whether the opening of the game will feature Desmond right outside the Great Vault as the game opens.
While William relates the the importance of the other two characters in Desmond's development, he fails to state what Connor Kenway and the American Revolution will bring to the table. It will obviously be answered throughout the game which arrives on October 30 for the PS 3 and Xbox 360. The title will then arrive on the Wii U on November 18 as a launch title.
