Based on the latest rumors, "Dead Island" fans will be able to see the game's sequel this fall. Video Gamer noted that the game is supposed to be released this spring. It also cited the game's official Twitter account wherein it was stated that the new installment would indeed come out to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in spring this year.
David Scammell, author of the Video Gamer report, said he is starting to doubt whether Deep Silver would be able to release the much-awaited game on schedule. Plus, they also noticed that a "vague" 2015 release date has been listed on the game's official website.
"Within the next 75 days, Dead Island 2 is supposed to have entered and completed a public beta test - complete with a 30 day exclusivity period on PlayStation 4 - before launching in full. But it's been months since anything about the game has been communicated by publisher Deep Silver," Scammell also noted.
Video Gamer and VG 24/7 also cited Eurogamer.CZ which reportedly claimed that the new game installment would not come out this spring, but in September instead.
Game Rant's Boston Blake meanwhile even aired the possibility of the game coming out next year. According to the report, Deep Silver might even push back the game's official release since "highly anticipated games" such as "The Division," "Halo 5," "Rise of the Tomb Raider," and "Star Wars Battlefront" have already been scheduled this fall. However, Blake suggested that fans wait for the upcoming E3 event to listen to new announcements from Deep Silver.
Remember that it has been months since Deep Silver dropped the first gameplay trailer for "Dead Island 2." For those who haven't seen it, watch it below:
