Recent rumors are saying that the next "Red Dead Redemption" game would be announced this June. This came from a Reddit post of an alleged former Rockstar employee (audio engineer) who leaked several details about the new game. According to the leaker, the new game will be called "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West."
"Hello. I am a former Rockstar game dev. I will not give any more personal information for my safety. My boss was a major D*** so this is why I am leaking info on the up coming Red Dead Redemption prequel. The sequel will be called 'Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West'. Although it is the second (or third if you consider Undead Nightmare a sequel) game, It is chronologically before the original game. The game will take place in the same area as the original game, twelve years before the first original game," the post read.
Here are some of the other details he revealed in the post:
1. There will be three playable characters.
According to the post, two of these characters are from the original game while one will be a completely new character. The old two characters are Irish and Seth. Irish reportedly came from Ireland and moved to the Americas at the age of fifteen. Seth on the other hand is from Kansas City. He is said to be a bank teller who heard that there is some kind of treasure. He then decides to use his life savings to bring his family to Tumbleweed, Texas.
Meanwhile, the third character is said to be customizable. Players can choose his name, his clothes and even the breed of horse he will have.
2. New stranger missions
Among the characters, only Irish and Seth can be used in the mission, though the third one could be involved in the campaign. "He will appear as a 'gun for hire' and works with Seth and Irish, tying the stories together. The third character will be in free roam, but Irish and Seth can be called in as companions (but not be played as), as well as other people. You will meet many of the characters from the original game including young Bonny Macfarlane, Sherriff, and even John Marston, but he will still be in his gang," the post revealed.
3. There will be a new gang system.
Players can join gangs or even the law enforcers of some towns. However, should a player wish to join the law enforcement team in the game, this makes robbing a challenge as it can cost a player his life on the game. Additionally, the leaker said that players can "bring in a posse (up to 4-8 friends) to single player, technically co op now."
Express said in a separate report that it is unlikely that Rockstar would be releasing the "Red Dead Redemption 2" this year. Express also reported that the new game would be available "exclusively" on Xbox One and PS4 consoles. The arrival of the "Red Dead Redemption 2" was earlier hinted by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick when he declared the game as a "permanent franchise" like "GTA," according to Game Spot.
