Here are the latest updates on the upcoming "Power Rangers" movie reboot!
According to recent reports, there might be a "rangers curse" at the moment. Venture Capital Post said this curse might be behind the delay in the completion of the movie's cast list.
"The children of the 80's as well as the millennial children of today are already excited for this movie. While excitements are up, it has been reported that the producers are having trouble in finding new cast. It was also rumored that the 'curse' rumors surrounding it affects the development of the film," to quote the VC Post report.
This curse apparently refers to the "unfortunate events" that happen to previous "Power Rangers" cast, as detailed by Yahoo. But former Blue Ranger David Yost have downplayed speculations saying he had never heard of such curse. Instead he cited the excitement that each actor/actress will experience when cast as Power Ranger. He added that actors/actressed should be able to portray their Power Ranger roles to the best they can as they would definitely affect many people's lives around the world.
Meanwhile, Movie Pilot has listed some possible actors who could be included in the movie's cast list. It said that veteran actor Morgan Freeman could be Zordon. Aside from this, it also listed Lena Headey for the role of Rita Repulsa; Emma Watson for Kimberly Hart; Freddie Highmore for Billy Cranston; Malese Jow for Trini Kwan; Ray Fischer for Zack Taylor; Jack O'Connell for Jason Lee Scott; and Luke Pasqualino for Tommy Oliver.
Former Green Ranger Jason David Frank on the other hand revealed that he would like to again appear in the upcoming "Power Ranger" movie. "I wanna be in the real 'Power Ranger' movie...You know what I mean? So Lionsgate let's get this stuff going on be in the real movie. I've saved my character for so long. And when I bring my character out in like in the movies or something linke that I want it to be legit. I want it to be a Saban blessing approved project," Franchise Herald cited Frank.
The upcoming "Power Rangers" movie reboot is set to premiere on theaters in July 2016. Screen Rant said the movie is produced by Brian Casentini, Allison Shearmur, and Haim Saban and the script is being written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who both earlier worked on "Thor" and "X-Men: First Class."
According to the movie synopsis provided by Screen Rant, the upcoming movie is "a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world."
