Rap star Drake dropped out of high in 2001 to pursue acting. Yesterday, the rapper finally earned his high school diploma.
Drizzy dropped out of school at 15 to play the paralyzed Jimmy Brooks on the hit series "Degrassi: The Next Generation." He stayed in that role for seven seasons. Drake took the job on Degrassi to support his family, according to MTV.
The 25-year-old Canadian tweeted last night about passing his final exam.
Drake, whose real is name Aubrey Graham, returned to school, at Vaughan Road Academy in Ontario, to complete his credits. He has been studying under teacher Kim Janzen for the past five months.
"I actually dropped out of high school, which I don't know if a lot of people know that," Drake said, according to the Rolling Stone. "But I dropped out of high school, I never really got like a great school experience. And when Coach Cal asked me to come here for the first Midnight Madness it just really gave me a sense of school, a sense of love, a sense of belonging to something. So that's why I feel like I belong to the UK family, and that's why I'm graduating from high school this month. So, I'm actually inspired by UK, inspired by these boys right here."
He publicly thanked Janzen on Twitter as well, saying: Thank you to my teacher Kim Janzen for spending the last 5 months working tirelessly with me!! OVO SOUND
