HTC has just launched its newest flagship device, the One M9. But rumors pointing to the release of another potential high-end smartphone from the Taiwanese electronics giant continue to circulate. The new device will allegedly be called HTC Desire A55 or HTC One E9.
Ubergizmo said that the new device is expected to be unveiled later this month, citing Upleaks (which is also responsible for HTC leaks in the past). It might be confusing to hear that another HTC flagship device would come out anytime soon considering the fact that the One M9 has just hit markets. Ubergizmo however has some explanation to it:
"The One E9 will be another flagship phone from HTC which is a bit odd considering that the company recently unveiled the HTC One M9...However it is possible that the phone could be targeted at a different market like what HTC has done with some of its models, but given the rumored specs of the HTC One E9, we're sure many are hoping it would arrive for their market," the news outlet said.
According to GSM Arena, HTC One E9 would have a 5.5 inch Quad HD display. It will be powered by a "MediaTek MT6795 chipset with an octa-core 2.0GHz Cortex-A53 processor and PowerVR G6200 GPU." It will also have a 3GB of RAM.
GSM Arena said most of the specs of the HTC One E9 are similar to the recently released One M9 device. It has a 32 GB storage, and a 20 megapixel main camera, a 4 megapixel UltraPixel selfie shooter. "In some markets the 4MP front sensor will even be replaced with a 13MP one," the news outlet said.
Plus it will also be available in a dual-SIM option. It will also get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update together with the HTC Sense 7 user interface. It will be available in several colors -- white rose gold, gray, and brown gold.
The specs provided by GSM Arena is also the same with the spec sheet provided by Upleaks and the latter added that the new smartphone would again boast of its BoomSound feature. It will also get a Bluetooth 4.1 and a "small battery."
In line with all of these rumors about a new HTC flagship device, NDTV Gadgets said HTC would be making a "huge announcement" this March.
"When I look at the flagship the M9, I see we're building the most premium device...But I can't stop there. We have a huge announcement in middle to late March around extreme differentiation between Samsung and the iPhone. It solves key pain points," HTC US president Jason Mackenzie was quoted in the report saying.
Could this possibly be the rumored HTC Desire A55 or HTC One E9? We are about to find out in a few days! In the meantime, watch these videos featuring the recently released HTC One M9:
