New screenshots for the upcoming game "Persona 5" have been released.
According to Crossmap, the new screenshots are found on the updated website of the game. See the new images here. The entire page shows us what we could expect in the upcoming game: that it focuses on the lives and adventures of selected young high school students.
In some of the photos, we get to see that there is some sort of magic used during game battles. On the official game website, we also see some credits listed: Katsura Hashino as game director, Shigenori Soejima as character designer, and Shoji Meguro as game music composer.
Meanwhile, Gematsu gave us more details about the upcoming game. The news outlet said the title centers on the protagonist who gained his Persona "after a certain incident unfolded." It also said that the a "great darkness" is now "enveloping" the city. The protagonist, together with his friends, attends a private high school called Shujin Academy. The game is mostly set in Shibuya, Japan.
Rumor has it that the protagonist acts as student during the day and transforms into a thief at night. The blue flames enveloping him in the screenshot is believed to transform into masks which he uses at night. The protagonist is also said to have black wings and a red getup.
Like previous game installments "Persona 3" and "Persona 4," Gematsu says it is likely that "Persona 5" would also use a symbol encounter system in the battles. This allows you to see enemies on screen and fight them by colliding into them. You can also opt to avoid enemies and just proceed by sneaking around. It also said that the All-Out Attack system would come back alongside the new Cooperation menu option.
Hashino earlier explained the real story of the upcoming game in an official statement. Here is what he said (as translated by Siliconera):
"For this game, we're going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance...it's about a group of high school students that are being 'chased' by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We're writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting."
Gaming Bolt, meanwhile, says Hashino is positive wit the huge support they got from fans. "It's been a massive outpouring and we're really happy to see people are into it as much as they are...It's a huge relief to all of us on the team to have things turn out that way. Still, it's also indicative that the anticipation is running really high among people who have enjoyed our work up until now, so it's not without some pressure coming our way, too," he said.
