Aside from the new gold platinum-colored Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge phones, there will also be 24K solid gold versions of the two devices. Sam Mobile said the luxurious gilded Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be available at Goldgenie.
Those who would like to get the new device from Goldgenie can choose from Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum variants. Pre-orders will start on Friday, March 20.
"Our craftsmen were the first in the world to achieve a 24k Gold embellishment finish on the polycarbonate surface of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Alpha models and Laban Roomes was proud to present a 24k Gold Samsung Galaxy S5 to Selma star and revered British actor David Oyelowo at the Uptown Pre-Oscars event in Hollywood earlier this year," Goldgenie said in a statement.
"Goldgenie will be accepting pre-orders of their customised S6 and S6 Edge phones from Friday 20th March at 9am. Prices start from £1664 exc. VAT for the Samsung Galaxy S6 in 24k Gold.
"To be one of the first to secure a device from this collection, customers are invited to place a 50% deposit on their chosen phone, with the balance payable soon after. The pre-order service will end on 7th April and the phones will be available to order as normal from Samsung's official launch date, 10th April 2015. Dispatch of the first shipment of orders will be between 14 and 21 days after this date," the statement added.
When converted into US dollar, its prices would be around $2,500, Sam Mobile noted.
The newly released Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 5.1" Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440. Its main asset is the camera which saw a huge upgrade. Note that its main camera is now 16 megapixels while the front camera is now a 5-megapixel shooter, perfect for capturing moments and selfies.
It also boasts of its Smart Charging feature which only requires 10 minutes of charging. This is equivalent to 4 hrs of regular use or 2 hrs of HD video. It has built-in wireless charging capabilities. Plus, it uses a powerful 64 bit, Octa-core processor.
Sam Mobile said in a separate report that an Active version of the S6 would also soon come out.
"According to our insider sources, the Galaxy S6 Active (SM-G890A) will have the same 5.1 inch QHD Super AMOLED+ display that the 'regular' version of the Galaxy S6 features. Besides that, the device will feature pretty much the same set of specifications as the Galaxy S6 itself, including the Exynos 7420 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage and a 16-megapixel / 5-megapixel camera combo. What will change though, are the dimensions (but obvious), which will now read 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8 mm (as opposed to 70.5 x 143.4 x 6.8 mm of the Galaxy S6), and the battery size, which will be upgraded to 3500mAh," the Sam Mobile report revealed.
