Sony has already confirmed that it will officially make the "Star Wars: Battlefront" game available to its PS4 gamers. However, it is still unclear when's the exact launch date.
Christian Post reported that the new game would come out in winter, coinciding with the much awaited movie "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens." This was backed by Tech Times which cited EA CEO Andrew Wilson's official announcement during an earnings call.
What else do we know about the upcoming game? In an interview with Eurogamer earlier, EA's Patrick Soderlund said that the new game would be EA Digital Illusions CE's (DICE) own interpretation. "This is DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be...That's the best description you can have. There are absolutely things in the previous Battlefront games that you'll recognize and remember, but DICE wants to put its own flavor on it. That's the only way we can do it. Hence it's called Star Wars: Battlefront, without a 3 at the end. We want to say it's something new...But again, it's going to be very Star Wars and very cool," Soderlund was quoted as saying.
Expert Reviews said that in the new game, players can get to choose whether to use the first person or third person shooter. The news outlet also revealed that "Star Wars: Battlefront" will use the Battlelog service from "Battlefield 4." It is further described as "EA's web interface for tracking your personal stats and unlockables."
"Battlelog also lets you use a browser to see what servers or matches are available at the time and will pre-load them in the background for you, suggesting that Battlefront's multiplayer will function in a very similar way," it added. Master Herald meanwhile says it is also possible that the "Community Map Project" be integrated into the game.
Venture Capital Post says the new game would cover the seven "Star Wars" movies -- from "The Phantom Menace" to "The Force Awakens." "Star Wars: Battlefront" is also said to be the "most expensive" Star Wars game in history.
"The game contains 64 player only multiplayer mode where they can play as a Rebel or Empire depending on what role they desired. They can also control bigger characters by spending points which is one of the exciting features of the game," VC Post says. The news outlet said there were speculations that the game would be a "large-scale single player" one.
Little has been known about the game but we have seen in a previously released trailer the setting which includes the icy and snowy Hoth and the enchanting forest of Endor. Watch it here:
