Fans of the action-adventure video game "Red Dead Redemption" will have to wait for a much longer time as it has been reported that a sequel is unlikely to come out soon.

The bad news comes from Gaming Bolt which cited Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities. Pachter said that he believes that Rockstar Games, the one behind "Red Dead Redemption" and the famous "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, would not release a sequel soon since it is much more focused on developing players' experiences than earning money. Instead, he says that Rockstar would be announcing a new IP.

"I don't think the sequel to Red Dead Redemption is the next Rockstar game. Remember when I said there was some new IP that they've been working on since at least '09?...I think Rockstar has a really amazing number of great games and great IPs, and I don't think that Rockstar are motivated by money. I think Rockstar are motivated by high quality game experiences. And I don't think that they're willing to abandon those other brands in order to generate higher sales for their parent company. I think that they want to keep all those brands alive," Pachter was quoted as saying.

Pachter also noticed that Rockstar has been releasing a game "every single year since 2001." He also noted that it is odd that it has not yet announced the arrival of the "Red Dead Redemption 2" last month. But should it announce its arrival, gamers could expect its availability in the market a year after.

Gaming Bolt also reported that it is possible that Rockstar won't be announcing the new IP during the E3 event but organize its own event for the special announcement.

"I think that the brand new IP that Rockstar has been working on since '09 will be announced this year. Rockstar tends to not go to E3, so they'll probably have their own event in May or something. Knowing them, they'll probably have it during E3 in another city just to draw attention. But I think it's a new IP this year," Pachter was quoted as saying.

Express, in a separate report, said it is indeed unlikely that Rockstar would be releasing the "Red Dead Redemption 2" this year. It however revealed that a new IP might indeed come out this year, specifically this June, before the E3 event. Note that "Red Dead Redemption" which focuses on the character named John Marston was first released for PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles in May 2010.

Last year, Express reported that the rumored "Red Dead Redemption 2" would be available "exclusively" on Xbox One and PS4 consoles. It added that it will focus on "integrated co-op."

Game Zone said that it would be more exciting and fun to play co-op while exploring the wild west. Note that co-op was previously introduced through the DLC pack "Outlaws to the End," featuring six co-op missions for two to four players. The arrival of the "Red Dead Redemption 2" was earlier hinted by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick when he declared the game as a "permanent franchise" like "GTA," according to Game Spot.
