Square Enix just released a teaser that could mean "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be released on 2017, according to Design & Trend.
The speculations started rising after fans noticed a pattern featured on the company's website. Could this mean that the game's web developers are sending a cryptic message?
TheGamersJoint, a YouTube channel, first probed into this speculation. Then, it was posted on Reddit where users supported the claim.
The original Reddit post reads: "Copy & Paste on your Browser and go down until you find the line of codes nº 55 - 99 view-source:https://www.kingdomhearts.com/khiii/"
The original post also highlighted the fact that the logo was entirely made by the number 7 "and it's placed where the logo is brighter and shines," directly correlating to "Kingdom Hearts III's" 7 Guardians of Light.
Others say that this could just be a prank from the developers as this kind of incident usually happens. For example, in the past, Amazon has a "MEOW" feature at the bottom of their HTML pages. It could be that the web developers would just like to excite people and that this logo is not a message at all.
On the other hand, Youth Health said the release date of "Kingdom Hearts III" has been pushed back. So far, it is believed that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be completed by 2017.
One of the reasons why fans initially thought that the game would be released this year is Bill Farmer. Farmer, the voice behind Goofy, spilled the beans regarding the release date of "Kingdom Hearts 3" on Twitter.
"He noted that Kingdom Hearts III was coming out 'sometime this year,' which he soon corrected into '2015.' He said that 'as far as [he] can tell' he was done with his lines, so he assumed the game was almost done," reported Destructoid.
However, Farmer's claim was immediately shut down, according to Cross Map. Square Enix released an official statement on its Twitter account saying, "There was a Goof! The release date for @KINGDOMHEARTS III remains unannounced."
This has been a confusing ride for fans especially when "Kingdom Hearts" developer Tetsuya Nomura said that they are still pushing for 2015, if not "a mid-year," they would have a "late-year launch." He did not indicate that the release would be pushed back for two more extensive years.
Nomura, on the other hand, also admitted that they have hit a road bump and are having some development issues in terms of the game's engine and operating system.
On a different note, it has been reported that "Kingdom Hearts" could also have a movie adaptation, following the footsteps of "Final Fantasy," according to Movie Pilot.
