Many are expecing that the upcoming Samsung would grab the center stage from Apple as it has been rumored that the new Tab S2 would be thinner than the iPad Air 2.

According to the exclusive report of Sam Mobile citing some unidentified "insiders", the upcoming Galaxy Tab S2 would indeed be thinner than the iPad Air 2 which is only 6.1 mm thick.

The report added that the new tablet would come out with a metal frameand it would likely be available in two variants -- an 8-inch one and and another 9.7-inch. Sam Mobile noted that these sizes are also different to the sizes that the Galaxy Tab S offer. The current Galaxy Tab S is available in two variants -- an 8.4-inch one and a 10.5-inch one. It also noted that it would have a "squarish" screen due to its 4:3 aspect ratio.

No further details have been divulged. It is also unknown when it will come out but Trusted Reviews says "it would be a surprise not to see it" during the Korean giant's Unpacked event this March.

More tablets

It looks like that this would be a year that Samsung would release several lines of tablets. Note that Sam Mobile also reported earlier that Samsung is allegedly making at least two new mid-range tablets which are called Galaxy Tab A and Galaxy Tab A Plus.

In the report, it was discussed that the two new tablets will be available in two sizes: 8 inches and 9.7 inches. The new tablets are also said to have the same specs and features. However, the Galaxy Tab A Plus will reportedly be available with a stylus. These new tablets are also rumored to get a larger RAM of 2GB.

It has also been revealed that the smaller versions of the tablets will come out with a 1024×768 pixel display resolution, a Snapdragon 410 processor, a 5 megapixel main camera and a 2 megapixel front camera, 16GB of internal storage, and 4,200 mAh batteries. Its larger versions, on the other hand, are expected to get 6,000 mAh batteries and Qualcomm APQ8016 processors. The tablets will also probably come out in LTE and Wi-Fi variants.

We also reported about other new upcoming Samsung tablets -- the new Galaxy Tab E and J. Though there were no details and specs revealed about it, Sam Mobile is positive about these devices as it spotted that Samsung has already applied for their trademarks. In a separate report, Sam Mobile detailed about other possible Samsung tablets along the way. These are Galaxy Tab AS, under model numbers SM-T350 and SM-T351, and the Galaxy Tab AL, under model numbers SM-T550 and SM-T551.
