To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Jordan Brand, the company will be releasing "Laser" models, particularly the Air Jordan 20 "Laser".
KicksonFire reported that the Air Jordan XX "Laser" will feature laser-etched overlays throughout its white upper. The pair is predominantly white, including the upper, midsole and leather midfoot strap. There are also hints of metallic silver on the back of the shoe and on the ankle strap. The outsole is icy blue, giving the shoe a very dramatic appearance. Other finishing elements on the Jordan 20 include the stitched grey Jumpman on the midfoot strap, a grey insole, and the branding and numbers at the back of the shoe, representing some of Michael Jordan's accomplishments.
The pair features a unique outsole design with interlinked pods that provide great cushioning. The shoelaces are white while the tongue is grey, although these are covered and secured well by the midfoot strap. The ankle strap and midfoot strap provide added support and lockdown for making quick cuts and crossovers. The shoe is very versatile and can be used by guards and big men alike. The pearly white tone and icy soles also make it great for casual use and collection purposes.
SneakerBarDetroit said that the Air Jordan 20 "Laser" was inspired by Rip Hamilton and Dez Bryant as part of the Jordan Brand Retro Laser Collection, which also features the Air Jordan 1 "Laser" and Air Jordan 4 "Laser". The original Jordan XX was released in 2004, designed by Tinker Hatfield. Initially, Hatfield requested Michael Jordan for some details about his career and achievements. When Jordan was ready to discuss, the basketball superstar shared stories, experiences and anecdotes from in and out of the court. Hatfield then worked with designer Mark Smith to create symbols that represented the special moments that Jordan previously talked about. The original Jordan 20 was also inspired by motorcycle tires and cycling shoes, among others. It was a commemoration of Air Jordan franchise's two decades in the industry.
Nike.com reported that the Air Jordan XX "Laser" is set to release on February 16, 2015 together with the other two pairs in the Laser Collection Pack. The sneaker will be available at Nike.com, and only one pair will be released per customer. The new shoe will also be sold at select Jordan Brand retailers like Awol and Rock City Kicks. The pair will retail at $250. Despite being released in a collection, each shoe in the edition will be sold separately.
