Will the new HTC flagship device come out during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain this March? There have been reports that the new HTC device, rumored to be called the HTC One M9, will officially be launched at the said annual event.
An exclusive report from Jack G March claims that the device will be unveiled on Sunday, March 1. Aside from this, the website also confirmed that the new device would indeed bear the name HTC One M9 without the brackets. Note that its previous flagship phones HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8) had brackets on their model numbers.
Furthermore, the Taiwanese electronics giant itself also somewhat confirmed on Twitter that it is indeed going to be part of this year's MWC. The company even revealed that it is going to use the slogan "One Life" on the event, which was also mentioned by Jack G March. HTC wrote: "Help us reveal some big news! This week's prompt: pick a shape and recreate it. Tag #OneLife & we might use it #MWC15."
This announcement was accompanied by a photo which has three shapes. First is the rounded corner of the HTC device. The second one is a shape pertaining to the device's camera flash and the last one is just a line found at the back of the phone. The announcement also came out as a contest encouraging fans to recreate HTC's design. It even noted that they might use a design from one of the submission at the event.
Phone Arena reported that HTC has "beefed up" its promotion for its new device to step up its competition against Korean giant Samsung which has recently hinted that it would indeed unveil "The Next Galaxy," rumored to be the Galaxy S6, at the Barcelona event. The news outlet said that HTC is "weak" when it comes to marketing as it has remained mum on its next flagship. Last January, we heard HTC inviting its fans to join them during this year's MWC. However, it did not give specific details about what to expect.
If the unveiling of the new HTC One M9 indeed happen at the MWC, then it would be contrary to Upleaks' earlier prediction. Upleaks (via Phone Arena) earlier said that HTC might ditch the MWC and unveil its new device at a separate event.
The new HTC flagship device is expected to boast of its new faster Wi-Fi performance and 20-megapixel camera. Aside from this, the new handset is also reportedly going to get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. It is also said to get a 3GB of RAM, alongside a 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. It is also possible that it would have an LTE Cat.9 network support, Bluetooth 4.1 version, and a better battery.
Many are also expecting that the device would already have the newest Android 5.0 Lollipop update as its operating system and its very own Sense 7.0 as user interface. Just like its predecessors, it is also expected to boast of its BoomSound stereo speakers and thinner bezels. There have also been reports that a gold-colored HTC One M9 would finally come out. HTC has yet to confirm or comment on these rumors.
