Two former "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" champions were booted off the show during last night's double elimination.
Brazilian race car driver Hélio Castroneves and singer Drew Lachey took of their dancing shows and returned home.
"You got to know when to win and when to lose as well," Castroneves said. "There are a lot of good competitors here," Castroneves said, according to Fox News. "As a competitor, yes you're disappointed," he continued. "You give your best."
He and his partner Chelsie Hightower failed to gain enough viewer votes, in part because he tripped over Hightower's dress during a routine.
"It's a crazy season and it has proven to be full of surprises and unpredictable," Hightower said after the show.
"He came out and gave three awesome performances. Aside from the dress mess-up last night, I don't think there is anything else we could have done."
Lachey and his partner Anna Trebunskaya were a little bitter after their elimination.
The LA Times said Lachey couldn't get his foothold in the competition and found himself in jeopardy in the first week. Despite his best efforts to show his chest and bare his b-boy skills, he suffered from performing first in the competition, a placement that usually means lower scores and the short-term memory loss that infects reality TV.
"We feel robbed," Trebunskaya said.
Lachey said he was disappointed that his time on the show had come to an end.
"There are fantastic dancers on the show, everyone sees it, but do I think we're going home too early? Absolutely," Lachey said. "And I don't think anyone in the ballroom disagrees," Fox reported.
The Times said in a new all-stars twist, the remaining couples were able to choose genres for their competing couples to dance next week. Bristol and Mark chose Bollywood for Gilles and Peta. Kirstie and Maks chose disco for Sabrina and Louis. Helio and Chelsie chose mambo for Shawn and Derek. Kelly and Val chose bolero for Emmitt and Cheryl. Melissa and Tony chose hip-hop for Apolo and Karina. Apolo and Karina chose jitterbug for Melissa and Tony. Emmitt and Cheryl chose contemporary for Kelly and Val.
Paula Abdul will be a guest judge on next week's show, airing Monday Oct. 5 on ABC.
