The latest installment of the Pokémon series is now available for the Nintendo DS.
Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 take place two years after the first Black and White series.
Unlike past Pokémon remakes such as Crystal, Diamond, and Platinum, the latest games feature new towns, gym leaders, and storylines.
"The amount of new features and content in Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 is remarkable," said Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing Scott Moffitt. "Even fans who spent countless hours battling their way through the Unova region in the previous games will find plenty of surprises, and it's an experience found only on Nintendo hand-held systems."
Three new gym leaders make their debut with Cheren, who was seen as a rival in the previous game and has normal type Pokémon; Roxie, a poison type leader; and Marlon, who specializes in water Pokémon.
The new gym leaders replace Lenora of Nacrene City and Striaton City's Cilian, Chili, and Cress.
The game also featured a new Pokémon League Champion, whom we won't spoil, but you might be surprised.
Pokémon from the earlier generations do make an appearance in the game and can be caught in the wild, as well as the introduction of the World Tournament that will feature familiar faces from previous Pokémon games, from Red to Diamond.
IGN gave Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 a 9.6 out of 10, calling it "Amazing."
"If you played Black or White - get this game. It's an even more refined version of that already excellent experience, with more than enough 'new' to set itself apart."
GameStop gave it a "fair" score of 6.5.
Reviewer Ashton Raze said the negatives of the game are, "An incredibly weak plot, even for Pokemon. Some of the layout changes are for the worse. You've played better versions of this before. An overabundance of low-level Pokemon make the game too easy."
Techno Buffalo gave it an 8.0 of 10.
Reviewer Joey Davidson wrote, "Could you be buying in to the same Pokémon you've been experiencing since 1998 with Black and White 2? Yes. But, at this point in the series' nearly 15 year run, you either like Pokémon, hate Pokémon or are completely new to the franchise. For those that like this series or want to experience it for the first time, Pokémon Black and White Version 2 is a great place to start."
