The Android smartphone lineup has been given a major boost this year thanks to high-profile handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2. But Samsung has another couple devices up its sleeve, like the Galaxy S3 Mini and the Galaxy Nexus 2, for which an 8-megapixel camera has been confirmed.

According to website SamMobile, the folks over at AllAboutSamsung has found out that the camera specs about the next Galaxy Nexus, model GT-I9260, through a leaked Picasa pic of the device and its details.

The HD front-facing camera should be 1.9-megapixels. These camera specs would make it essentially the same as the cameras on the Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2.

The next Galaxy Nexus should also release with a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and 16GB memory with a microSD slot.

More likely than not, the Galaxy Nexus 2 should also come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box since many versions of the Galaxy Nexus already have their versions of Jelly Bean.

Website DroidLife reported that a screenshot of a Carphone Warehouse computer shows a listing that includes the name Samsung Nexus 2, which will probably end up being called the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 2. Also on the computer screen: a 32GB Google Nexus 7 tablet from Asus.

Samsung should begin shipping the phone to retailers in December, just in time for the holidays.
