Aside from the One M9 or Hima, HTC is also rumored to release a "relatively high-end" smartphone to add to its Desire series. The new smartphone will be called HTC A55, Android Authority reported citing Upleaks which has been known for leaking the details about the new HTC flagship device One M9.
According to a February 2 tweet from Upleaks, the new HTC A55 is actually the HTC Hima Ace which we earlier reported as the "more affordable Hima edition." Here is Upleaks' original tweet, "Sorry, Hima_Ace has been changed its codename to A55 in Sep 2014:(." In our report earlier, we said that the Hima Ace device would only be out in the China market but we don't know yet if this still the case.
Meanwhile, here is the actual spec sheet provided by Upleaks:
- MediaTek MT6795 2.0GHz*8 64Bit
- 3GB RAM
- 32GB ROM
- 5.5″ WQHD Display
- 20MP Back Camera with a LED flash
- 13MP or 4MP UltraPixel Front Camera
- BoomSound
- Bluetooth 4.1
- Not big battery(less than 3000)
- Android 5.0
- Desire Sense 7.0
- Launch Date Feb 2015
Based solely on this sheet, we can say that the new Desire smartphone is indeed pretty decent and high-end. It is packed with awesome features like the 20 megapixel main camera and a whopping 13 megapixel or 4 megapixel ultrapixel front camera. Also, expect it to get the newest Android OS to date, the Android L 5.0 Lollipop update, together with the amazing Desire Sense 7.0.
Android Authority meanwhile highlighted the MT6795 chip the new device has. It said that this chip is good in taking slow motion shots as it is capable of 1080p video recording at 480 frames per second.
Upleaks said two variants of the device is expected to come out. First is the A55#UL which will cater to the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) market. The second is the A55#DTUL, which has dual-SIM capability and is expected to be released in the Asian market. Upleaks also revealed that the device would be available in three colors -- Wite Rose Gold, Gray, and Brown Gold. The new HTC Desire A55 is expected to be launched this month. HTC has yet to confirm these rumors.
Upleaks, in a separate tweet dated February 3, said that the new HTC flagship device will be out in the market with the name HTC One M9 and not by the name "Hima."
According to Android Origin, the new HTC One M9 will have a 20.7 megapixel main camera, the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset as processor. It will also probably get a 3GB of RAM and a 32GB of internal storage. Additionally, it would probably get a microSD card slot to expand the phone's memory. It is also likely be available with the LTE Cat.9 network support, Bluetooth 4.1 version, and a better battery. It will also get the newest Android update, Android 5.0 Lollipop, together with HTC's very own Sense 7.0 as user interface. It is expected to be launched during the Mobile World Congress in March.
