The next Sony flaghip device rumored to be called Xperia Z4 is expected to be better than its predecessor Z3. The International Business Times has laid down five reasons why.
Better Display
First on its list is display upgrade. Although it is not yet confirmed how it will exactly look like, IB Times is already imagining it to be something new and bigger. The report noted that based on the rumors, the next Sony flagship device would have a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch screen with either a Quad HD display or a Full HD resolution. This is bigger and better than Z3's 5.2-inch Full HD Triluminos display (1920x1080 pixels).
On the contrary, GSM Arena reported the new flagship device (which has already been certified by the Japanese Communication Ministry and by its US counterpart -- US Federal Communications Commission) would likely inherit some of the "defining features" of its predecessor, the Xperia Z3. It said that just like the Z3, it might also get a 5.2 inches Triluminos display.
Processor and OS Upgrade
The new Sony device is expected to be powerful as it would be equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip and with the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Note that the Z3 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and the Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
More Memory
The new Xperia Z4 is also expected to house more memory than its predecessor. It is expected to get 4GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. Its predecessor meanwhile has 3GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage.
Camera
The Xperia Z series are known for having a 20.7 megapixel main camera and it looks like this will be retained in the new device. However, it is the front camera which is expected to be upgraded as the Z4 is said to get a 4.8 megapixel snapper, compared to Z3's 2.2 megapixel.
New battery
IB Times said the new device would have a 3420 mAh battery, an upgrade from Z3's 3100 mAh one. GSM Arena though says it would be a 3,400 mAh. We still don't know yet which is which. But expect an upgrade on this.
Aside from this, the new device is expected to be water and dust resistant and will be LTE Cat.9-capable.
The new handset was earlier expected to be unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show last January but it did not happen. GSM Arena says the new Sony device might finally arrive this March during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
Techno Buffalo however says the March launch date is still uncertain since the Japanese firm has not yet issued any invitations for the event. Sony has not yet issued any comment or statement regarding this new device.
