Will Groot be coming back in the second "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie? Movie director James Gunn, in a previous Q&A event on Facebook, hinted that the baby Groot who was seen toward the end of the movie might not actually be the exact Groot.
"Well, who says baby Groot is Groot and not Groot's son. He might be dead," to quote Gunn. He also made some revelations about the character and the movie.
"As people know, that is me doing the baby Groot dance. I was alone in a room with a camera. I never watched the footage after I recorded it, just sent it to the VFX folks at MPC and told them to make him dance just like this. My friends who saw an early screening recognized my dance style without knowing it was me," he told the movie's fans.
In the Q&A, many of the fans expressed how much they appreciated and loved Groot. Gunn revealed that he himself also loves the character.
Although it is still unsure whether it will be the original Groot or his progeny, Venture Capital Post said that Vin Diesel will still be back in the second movie to voice the said character.
In the Q&A, Gunn also revealed what exactly happened to Nebula. "Sometimes people are confused what happens to Nebula. She looks down for something to fall on, allows herself to fall on a Ravager craft, and takes out the Goth Ravager inside and flies away, leaving everyone to deal with this shit themselves, because she's stopped caring. She will be back."
But when fans asked Gunn if Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace, would come back in the second movie, the director responded, "Who knows. But not in 2, no."
Pace was earlier interviewed by IGN and the actor admitted that he would love to come back in the movie. "I love the character...I'd love to play him again! Who knows!?," he was quoted as saying.
"I loved that film...I was so proud to be a part of that whole fun moment. I found the character very, very interesting, exceptionally, and in playing him -- this kind of charismatic space terrorist. The idea is fascinating.
However, there is still a possibility that Pace would come back in other future "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies as Gunn told another fan in the Facebook Q&A session that Ronan the Accuser could return "perhaps someday."
Note that Ronan was burned by the Power Orb in the first movie. Cinema Blend says that the only way we could see him in the second movie is through flashbacks. But we don't know yet what would happen to him. Will he rise from the dead? Or was he really killed by the Power Orb to begin with?
Marvel announced in October last year that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel would hit theaters in May 5, 2017.
In an interview with Variety last year, Gunn revealed that the five main characters -- Peter Quill or Star Lord, played by Chris Pratt; Gamora, played by Zoe Saldana; Groot, played by Vin Diesel; Drax the Destroyer, played by Dave Bautista; and Rocket, played by Bradley Cooper -- will be coming back in the movie, alongside other unspecified returning characters.
