The official name of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge variant has allegedly been revealed. The news comes from Sam Mobile, a news site dedicated to Samsung users and fans.
According to the report, the new edge device would be called "Galaxy S Edge," contrary to earlier rumors that it would be called Galaxy S6 Edge. In its report, Sam Mobile mentioned the website of Vodafone and even provided a photo showing the source code for the page. The name of the new device is highlighted in the photo. Could this really be it? Is this legit? Sam Mobile says there is a possibility that this is indeed true. "Now, that might not make a lot of sense at first, but when you go to think of it, the Note Edge too lacks the '4' in the name, which suggests Samsung thinks of it as a completely different phone rather than just a Note 4 variant," it says.
The rumors about the Edge version for the upcoming Samsung flagship device was confirmed true by Sam Mobile's unidentified source last week. The rumored Edge version of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 allegedly has the model number SM-G925. This is not the first time that Samsung will release an Edge version for its devices. Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Note Edge, a separate variant of the Galaxy Note 4.
Sam Mobile said the new Samsung Galaxy S Edge will have the same panel-based system that the Galaxy Note Edge has. It will have the Yahoo! Finance, news and sport panels, and briefing panel. It will also have pedometer panel, favorite apps and contacts panels, and others which can be downloaded from the app store. The device will also come with the Night Clock and Express Me panels.
Aside from this, the device is also expected to get the same software feature the Note Edge has but some new features are still eyed in it. For instance, the source said users of the new Galaxy S6 Edge can now activate the main edge panel either on the right or left curve. There is also the new Glance Lighting feature which lights up the edge area of the phone whenever one receives a call or notification while the phone is turned over. Users can also have the chance to enumerate their favorite contacts and even assign different color lighting to them.
In a separate Sam Mobile report, it was revealed that the new Samsung Galaxy S Edge would likely get a 4GB of RAM. It said that some unnamed "Korean analysts" have already confirmed it. However, the same "Korean analysts" told Sam Mobile that it would not be the same for the Galaxy S6 as it is only expected to get 3GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge are expected to be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Samsung has yet to confirm rumors.
