The former tight end of the New England Patriots was found to be sneaking notes to other inmates through jail library books. The said notes are now selling on eBay for $2,000.

TMZ reported that Aaron Hernandez was investigated for attempting to pass notes to other inmates during his time at Bristol County Jail in 2013. He allegedly wrote messages on the pages of jail library books, to be read by other inmates. One of the books managed to get out of the jailhouse and into the hands of a seller who is offering it on the online marketplace.

Another TMZ Sports article wrote that the investigation started after one of the inmates in the Connecticut jail was found to have attempted to steal the former NFL star's jail ID badge. Hernandez eventually got his badge back after the thief was caught. According to the thief, Hernandez contacted him after the incident and provided him with the book containing his secret handwritten notes. The book consisted of 320 pages and Hernandez had notes in two of the pages.

A jail representative said that inmates are prohibited from passing notes similar to the ones Aaron wrote, so he might suffer consequences for his actions. Hernandez and other inmates will be interrogated by jail staff to fully acquire the details of the incident and Aaron's real purposes.

TMZ reported that the handwriting on the notes was similar to Aaron's. It seemed like Hernandez knows and is actually friends with the thief. The former tight end wrote, "I heard you are the one that tried to steal my ID! That's crazy lol!"

The seller intends to stay anonymous and told TMZ Sports that he acquired the book from someone who managed to take it out of Bristol County Jail. The seller wants to keep the written notes secret until a buyer purchases the book to increase the sales appeal. Reportedly, he wrote about his innocence and plans to prove it in court. He added that he believes that he will make a return to the NFL soon.

The book title is "Bad Boy Brawly Brown", written by Walter Mosely. It is a crime novel about the fictional character Easy Rawlins, who faced murder charges in another Mosely story. In the Mosely books, Rawlins successfully proved his innocence and kept himself from jail. The jail officials did not comment whether the book truly came from their prison.

Hernandez is currently facing charges for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013. Pro Football Talk reported that his trial will commence on January 29, 2015.
