It seems that there's no other way EON and MGM can find an artist capable of recreating the successful "Skyfall" theme song but getting Adele herself to record the new song, MTV reported.
The English singer-writer's James Bond theme song, written alongside producer Paul Epworth, was greatly received worldwide when it came out in the 2012 movie "Skyfall." It swept up awards at the Golden Globes, Academy Awards and Brit Awards, not to mention ranking highly in music charts all over the world. Finding someone to top and more seems to be a tall order.
Reports have it that Adele will allegedly be taking on the feat, taking time off making her third studio album to record the theme song for "Spectre."
A source informed Mirror of the development, claiming that the singer was flown to Los Angeles by MGM executives to secretly record the new song and work on new scores.
"She hadn't been in contact with the film bosses for a few weeks, but suddenly she said she had great plans for the theme, so they flew her over," the source said, adding how the executives made it clear that they wanted her back for the next film. However, they still have to decide on whether or not they want the song after hearing the record.
The source also revealed that James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, was the "biggest advocate" for Adele's return given all the awards she brought the film and even personally asked her to sing the new OST.
Adele and MGM did not respond to requests for a comment, but if it is indeed true, Adele will follow in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey, who recorded more than one song for the franchise. Bassey sang for "Moonraker," "Diamonds are Forever" and "Goldfinger," according to PEOPLE.
"Spectre" stands for Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. The film shows Bond facing off against the sinister organization with the help of Q and Moneypenny, while M struggles to keep the secret service alive from political forces who want to shut it down.
Returning to the film are Craig as James Bond, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomi Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M and more. Joining them are Christopher Waltz as Oberhauser, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann and Andrew Scott as Denbigh.
"Spectre" will open in theaters on Nov. 6, 2015.
