It has been confirmed that the next Samsung flagship device will have an Edge variant. The news came from Sam Mobile, a site dedicated to Samsung devices and users.

According to the news outlet's exclusive report, an unidentified source confirmed to them that the Korean electronics giant is indeed developing an Edge version for its upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6. The rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge allegedly has the model number SM-G925. Note that this is not the first time that Samsung will release an Edge version for its devices. Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Note Edge, a separate variant of the Galaxy Note 4.

Sam Mobile said the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge will have the same panel-based system that the Galaxy Note Edge. It will have the Yahoo! Finance, news and sport panels, and briefing panel. It will also have pedometer panel, favourite apps and contacts panels, and others which can be downloaded from the app store. The device will also come with the Night Clock and Express Me panels.

Aside from this, the device is also expected to get the same software feature the Note Edge has but some new features are still eyed in it. For instance, the source said users of the new Galaxy S6 Edge can now activate the main edge panel either on the right or left curve. There is also the new Glance Lighting feature which lights up the edge area of the phone whenever one receives a call or notification while the phone is turned over. Users can also have the chance to enumerate their favorite contacts and even assign different color lighting to them.

What else do we know of this new device?

In a separate report from Sam Mobile, it was revealed that the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge would likely get a 4GB of RAM. It said that some unnamed "Korean analysts" have already confirmed it. "Samsung has always been at the cutting-edge of technology when it comes to hardware, and the company even started producing 4GB RAM modules for mobile devices recently, so it's very plausible that we will see 4 gigs of RAM on Samsung's next flagship," the report said.

However, the same "Korean analysts" told Sam Mobile that it would not be the same for the Galaxy S6 as it is only expected to get 3GB of RAM. In a related development, Sam Mobile said that a 4GB of RAM is also expected in the upcoming Galaxy Note 5 which is rumored to be released later this year.

We already reported earlier that Samsung is rumored to release two variants of its latest flagship device. The rumors about Samsung's new flagship device came after it has been reported that the firm is embarking on a new project called "Project Zero." The name of the project indicates that Samsung is creating the new device from "scratch" and on "an entirely new vision." The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are expected to be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Samsung has yet to confirm rumors.
