Sunday’s season seven premiere was a big night for murder drama ‘Dexter,’ which hit its highest ratings with 3.04 million viewers. The show drew 2.4 million viewers at its 9 p.m. premiere and a little less than 600,000 at the 11 p.m. encore, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The season picked up right where season six left off with Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) adoptive sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) learning his murderous secret right as she’s about to declare her love to him.
Fans saw as Deb walked in on Dexter murdering Travis, the “Doomsday Killer,” and was then affronted with the decision of what to do with the body. The duo then decided to light the murder site on fire to make it appear like a suicide. Unfortunately their shoddy work leaves vital evidence behind for LaGuerta (Lauren Vélez), who finds one of Dexter’s bloodslides in the wreckage.
True to its fashion, the premiere continued with more murders, including a very unlucky Eastern European mobster Viktor and equally unlucky Detective Mike Anderson (Billy Brown), and even more intrigue. However, the highlight of the suspenseful episode came when Deb finally uncovers the full truth of Dexter’s secret—he is a full-blown serial murderer.
If you missed the season premiere, you’re in luck. Showtime has posted the full first episode of season seven on YouTube, along with the season premiere of its Emmy-winning drama ‘Homeland.’
