Facebook's Messenger for iOS has received an update, making it compatible with devices running the iOS 6.

According to Apple, the new Messenger update, 2.0, is offering a new conversation design along with bug fixes, improved speed and more reliability. The updated version of Facebook Messenger will offer support for the latest iPhone 5's taller screen resolution, the iTunes page reported.

Additionally, the updated Messenger will also allow users to pin friends who they interact with the most to the top of their Favorites. The new Messenger app also introduces the swipe-left action which was previously present only in the Android version of the application. With the new Messenger, a user can now swipe his/her finger to the left and see who is signed into Facebook chat or Messenger and easily send a message.

The Messenger's chat interface has also received a facelift. The new interface has speech bubbles, which makes it seem more like a text messaging app than a Facebook chat app.

Meanwhile, Facebook has announced its plans to update its mobile applications more frequently, to address long-standing bugs and bring improvement in features. According to a recent announcement, Facebook will update its iOS apps every two months, while Android users will receive a new update every month.
