Android's newest OS, Jelly Bean, is slowly gaining momentum. Latest reports state that Acer has rolled out the Android Jelly Bean update for its Acer Iconia Tab A700, which was running the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich till present.
Members of the XDA-Developers forum reported Thursday that they have started receiving the Android 4.1 update on their Iconia tabs.
"I just got the Jelly Bean update on a German ACER A700," an XDA member wrote.
Forum members say that the update on the popular quad-core Tegra 3 powered Iconia Tab A700 is currently available only in Germany. However, users in Holland and the U.S. will also be receiving the update, the report claimed.
Along with its buttery-smooth feeling, the latest Android JB update also introduced a few noteworthy improvements, including the OS upgrade. Acer has reportedly incorporated Google Chrome, as well as Acer Cloud in their update. Other usual updates included are Google Currents, Play Books and Play Music. Meanwhile, one member has mentioned a boosted effect on touch sensitivity as well, which can be considered as an improvement over the previous Android version. A note of concern is that the update has supposedly caused an issue with McAfee VirusScan Mobile, which is reported to crash after the Jelly Bean update. The company, however, is expected to get the issue fixed soon.
Earlier this week, Asus launched the JB update to its Transformer Prime tablet. The company has also announced that the Transformer Pad Infinity will get the update soon. While Acer hasn't disclosed when the other 10-inch and 7-inch tablets, such as the Iconia Tab A200, A500, or A100, will receive the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it mentioned that the update will arrive in "several tablets soon." The company announced however, that the upcoming Iconia Tab A110 will be shipped with Android 4.1.
