Danish gossip magazine ‘Se Og Hor” denied reports that it had published new, more revealing photos of Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton on Saturday. Media in Britain and the United States reported that the magazine had published photos of the royal without her bikini bottom on Friday.
According to CNN, ‘Se Og Hor’ editor-in-chief Kim Henningsen denied the media reports and told CNN that it had only published previously published photos in a 16-page spread on September 20.
On Friday, E! Online reported that photos of the Duchess sans bikini bottoms were circulating the web. The photos were said to be of the same photo-set taken during a private sunbathing session with her husband, Prince William.
Henningsen previously told CNN, “It’s a set of unique photos from an A-class celebrity. We are a leading gossip magazine in Denmark, and it is my job to publish them.” The Danish’s sister publication in Sweden, ‘Se och Hoer,’ also ran the series of topless photos.
The photos, which were taken while the Duke and Duchess were vacationing in a secluded chateau in the south of France, were first published in French magazine, Closer. They were then published in Italy’s Chi and Ireland’s Irish Daily Star.
Almost two weeks ago, the royal couple won an injunction lawsuit against Closer for invasion of privacy and also sought a criminal complaint against the photographer who took the private photos.
Owners of the Irish Daily Star have since apologized to the couple for the publications of the photos and have also suspended editor Michael O’Kane. Italian magazine Chi, which is owned by the same publishing company as Closer, published the photos in a 26-page spread under the headline, “Court Scandal: The Queen is Nude.”
The Scandinavian gossip magazines announced they would publish the photos after the royal couple won its injunction against the French magazine.
A palace representative refused to comment on the latest publications of the photos but told E! News, “Our stance is the same as before—we aren’t commenting on any further legal action save to say all proportionate responses will be kept under review.”
Henningsen, who did not seem fazed by the comment, told CNN, “If the British royal family wants to sue us, then it will happen then and we’ll deal with it.”
No British publication has published the photographs.
