The title of the fifth installment for the movie "Rambo" has officially been revealed.
The announcement came from Sylvester Stallone himself. On December 28, he tweeted, "Doing Scarpa based on Gangster Greg Scarpa after LAST BLOOD RAMBO..."
Master Herald said that "Rambo: Last Blood" might be the final installment for one of the most successful movie franchises of all time. It also noted that it has already been seven years since the last "Rambo" movie was shown in January 2008. That movie which starred Vietnam veteran John Rambo has reportedly earned over $110 million worldwide.
As for the cast list, no announcements have been made about it. Well, except for Stallone who is of course expected to play as the lead actor. Stallone is also reportedly going to be the one writing and directing the upcoming "Rambo: Last Blood." The plot is still unknown but Master Herald says it will probably be be patterned after the four Rambo movies released previously. "John Rambo or his friend getting the raw end of an abusive authority that would eventually force the Vietnam vet to fight back," it says.
But in an interview with MTV several months ago, Stallone might have hinted something on the upcoming "Rambo" movie. "I like the whole Mexican situation, what's going on down there...So I'm working on a formula for it right now," he was quoted as saying.
In a separate interview with Vulture in August, the 68-year old actor revealed that he has already started training for the fifth "Rambo" movie. "I'm getting ready (for 'Rambo 5'). I'm starting to work out. I'm going to be appropriately vicious and all that stuff, but intellectual. A killer with a heart. Smart, yet stupid. Tall, yet short. Broad, but thin. You know what I mean. We're going to try to cover all the boundaries," to quote him.
Stallone earlier revealed that he wanted to leave the character for good. He however also hinted that a last shot could still be done. Rambo first appeared in a 1972 novel by David Morrell called "First Blood." Aside from "Rambo: Last Blood," Stallone is also expected to reprise another familiar role. He said in a separate tweet that he is on his way to Philadelphia to play Rocky Balboa for the seventh time in the movie "Creed." Rocky Balboa acts as the trainer of Apollo Creed's grandson, which is being played by Michael B. Jordan. The movie is directed by Ryan Coogler who had already woked with Jordan in the 2013 movie "Fruitvale Station."
In his December 28 tweet, Stallone also revealed that he will be filming a biopic of gangster Gregory or Greg Scarpa, also known as "the Grim Reaper" after the fifth Rambo movie.
