"Gangnam Style" debut July 15 and quickly went viral. YouTube published statistics showing that within two months, "Gangnam" has increased to an average of more than 6 million views per day.
"Got 200 million views !!! Thx everybody!!! 2ìµë·°ë¬ì±!!!" Psy tweeted Sept. 17.
Psy has become a global pop culture phenomenon, teaching the dance to mega star Britney Spears and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres. Google Chairman Eric Schmidt was also seen performing the video's signature "horse dance."
He's been seen hanging out with LMFAO, Jon Bon Jovi, LA Reid, the cast of SNL, Chris Brown and a Hyundai.
"With K-pop, we had a whole industry of extraordinarily high quality music that was largely not available outside of Japan and Korea and a couple other countries. YouTube made it mainstream and global," Schmidt said to the Wall Street Journal.
Rap star T-Pain even took part in the craze by tweeting a cartoon photo of a man dressed in a Batman mask doing the dance.
Mercury News reported that the song's title is social commentary on life in Gangnam, an affluent neighborhood in Seoul, South Korea.
