Can the rumored Surface Pro 4 possibly take down the alleged iPad Pro?
Although Microsoft and Apple have both yet to confirm the release of the two devices, rumors are suggesting that a rivalry between the two is seen to be brewing and competition will definitely soon heat up. So what do we know exactly about the two devices?
Bigger, better?
The rumored iPad Pro, which others also call iPad Pro Plus, is known as Apple's bigger iPad version, according to Mac Rumors which cited Japanese magazine Mac Fan. It reported that the new iPad will be larger than the usual ones as it measures 305.31mm x 220.8mm x 7mm or 12 inches x 8.7 inches x 0.28 inches. It will have a 12.2-inch display, it claimed. Bloomberg, on the other hand, says that the new iPad will probably measure 12.9 inches diagonally. Current iPads have 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch displays.
Meanwhile, the alleged Surface Pro 4 might even be bigger than the iPad Pro as rumors suggest that the device might boast of its 13-inch or 14-inch screen. However, it has also been reported that the device might also be available in a smaller version -- an 8-inch one. It can be deduced that the smaller Surface Pro 4 might be Microsoft's way of competing with Apple's iPad Mini series.
Design
Mac Rumors says that the new iPad will "closely resemble" the recently released iPads -- Air 2 and Mini 3 -- in terms of its design. It noted that it is also seen to have a thin chassis and slim bezels just like the two other iPads. However, the new iPad will be thicker than the iPad Air 2 which boasts of its 6.1 mm thinness and than the iPhone 6 which is 6.9 mm. The new tablet which is expected to measure 7 mm however will slightly be thinner than the new iPhone 6 Plus which is 7.1 thick.
The Surface Pro 4, just like its predecessor Surface Pro 3, on the other hand, will still boast of its laptop and tablet capabilities. Master Herald said the device is called a "laplet" as it is more of a laptop and tablet packed into one due to its attachable keyboard.
Processor
The iPad Pro is rumored to get the new triple-core A8X processor which was first received by the new iPad Air 2. This processor, Mac Rumors said, is "up to 55 percent faster" than the A8 processor which is in the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Tehran Chronicle says the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 would probably get Intel's new and powerful Core M processors.
OS
As for the operating system, the iPad Pro is expected to get the current and latest iOS 8 while the Surface Pro 4 is seen to get the Windows 10.
RAM
It seems that the Microsoft tablet has a bigger RAM than the iPad Pro. It was speculated that the Surface Pro 4 will even have a larger RAM than its predecessor which has an 8 GB RAM. It is believed that the iPad Pro would get a 2 GB RAM.
Other details about the two new tablets are still unclear and unconfirmed. So which do you think is better? Which of the two do you think will dominate? We are leaving the decision to you. Besides, all of these are still just rumors. However, let's just hope that more updates and upgrades will soon arrive.
