Rumors have been flying about a supposed Mariah Carey/ Nicki Minaj feud ever since Minaj was announced as a judge on American Idol.
Carey reportedly hung up the phone on AI producers when she was told Minaj would be joining her and Keith Urban at the judges table.
Neither woman sits next to each other at the judges' table and the two were pictured standing apart in the show's official photo.
Minaj made her first appearance on ABC's The View yesterday to discuss the rumors.
When asked how the show is going so far, Minaj responded "it's going pretty good," with a sly smirk.
When Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked she closer to on set, Minaj said she "looks up to all of them," and that she has worked with Carey, whom she described as being "really funny," and was "grateful" Carey gave her an opportunity early on in her career.
Mariah has yet to comment on the feud, but a few days ago, she did re-tweet a fan's video of their 2009 collaboration "Up Out My Face" off of her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album, stating "I love it!!!! Girl power!!"
"American Idol" sources told TMZ that Carey and others were "ticked off" when Minaj arrived 45 minutes late to a taping Sunday, which "set the tone for the whole day."
TMZ reported that AI producer Nigel Lythgoe said everything was fine that day, but Mariah talked over Nicki, criticizing her critiques, and Nicki fired right back.
Conversely, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the two divas understand that "a bit of fire" would be good for ratings and there is no real feud because the two barely know each other.
"The public likes to see some controversy and I think you will have plenty of that as the season unfolds next year," the source said.
After a recent taping, Carey and Minaj were reportedly seen backstage laughing and conversing, dispelling any feud-like behavior.
The new season of American Idol starts in January on Fox.
