Apple's iPhone 5 customers might experience some shipping delays following the closure of Apple's main manufacturer in China.
Foxconn Technology closed its plant on Monday following a "massive fight" forcing police to be involved.
Up to 79,000 people work at the factory, and about 2,000 were involved in the scuffle, according to Reuters.
The dispute started at about 11 p.m. and was resolved at 3 a.m. with 40 people sent to the hospital, three in critical condition. There were arrests as well.
"The plant is closed today for investigation," Foxconn spokesman Louis Woo told Reuters.
Foxconn has been facing issues with employees demanding better wages and benefits. Channel 4 News reported students were being forced to work on production lines as part of "compulsory internships," and the company has defended its policies.
Foxconn does supply the iPhone 5 but its unconfirmed if this factory directly handled with the new Apple smartphone. However, as iPhoneTouch.Blorge reported, the factory is the company's largest plant, "it would make sense for some kind of Apple-related product to be manufactured there."
Apple has not commented on the matter and if there will be shipping delays of the new iPhone 5 or other Apple devices. The iPhone 5 has already experienced delays with preorders seeing a three to four week shipping delay. As Latinos Post reported, the Apple said on Monday that the demand for the iPhone 5 exceeded their initial supply.
The iPhone 5 is scheduled to debut in 22 countries this Friday, mostly in Europe, click here for the country names.
