HTC is putting its One M8 device on sale, as the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is rumored to release a new flagship device allegedly called HTC One M9.
According to a report frin Android Authority, the 32GB LTE HTC One M8 is currently being offered at $29.99 on contract with Verizon. It noted that it is a huge discount from the $199.99 usual price. The device is being sold for $749.99 for those who do not want a contract. It is available in three different colors -- gold, gray, and silver.
Although the HTC One M8 was released less than a year ago, rumors suggest that HTC is now preparing its new flagship device.
So what would this new handset look like?
According to Android Origin, specs of the alleged new HTC phone were revealed by Upleaks on Twitter. It added that the rumored new phone was codenamed "Hima."
Upleaks on its Twitter post revealed some of the specs of the new phone. Its tweet, dated December 3, reads: "HTC Hima:S810 2.0GHz*4+1.5GHz*4, 3GB RAM, 5" FHD, VoLTE/CA/LTE Cat.6, 20.7MP(front 13MP or UltraPixel 4MP), 2840mAh, Android 5.0/Sense 7.0:)"
The post said the HTC One M9 or HTC Hima, will have Snapdragon 810 as its processor. It will have a 5-inch display with FHD resolution. It will also have a 13 megapixel or UltraPixel 4MP front camera on board and a 20.7 megapixel main camera.
It announced in another tweet that HTC is currently working on the new RE Camera 2 which has the codename "GC2." However, it said that it is unlikely that the RE Camera will be launched with the new HTC Hima.
The alleged new HTC flagship device will reportedly come with 3GB of RAM and a VoLTE/CA/LTE connection. The phone is also likely to get the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update and Sense 7.0. It will also have a 2,840mAh battery, according to the leaked specs.
Another tweet from Upleaks adds that the new phone "will be coming to all major [carriers] in the US." It said that the device is already being tested at these carriers' laboratories.
Upleaks also announced that the launch date for the rumored device is set in March next year during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Also, HTC is eyed to announce "some Desire phones" on that event. Upleaks added that it is not sure whether the rumored new phone will support Bose sound system. However, it said that it might have an SRS Sound enhancer.
