Apple's iPhone 5 didn't exactly wow audiences when the Cupertino-based company revealed the device on September 12, but that hasn't stopped millions from purchasing the next-gen handset. As it turns out, the iPhone 5 has garnered mostly positive first impressions from users and reviewers alike.
Dwight Silverman from the Houston Chronicle wrote:
"After spending much of today with my white, 64-gigabyte model, it's safe to say that early adopters are going to be happy with their purchase. The iPhone 5 is a case of a product being greater than the sum of its parts. If you're hesitant about buying one because of what appears to be tepid specifications or a lack of in-your-face innovation . . . don't be. With a few exceptions, Apple has refined the iPhone 5 to the point that it's nearly the iPhone you'd always hoped it would be."
Others were delighted by the new panoramic camera feature and the new Facebook integration that the iOS 6 introduced.

"I think my favorite thing about the iPhone iOS update is the panoramic camera option! SWEET!! The fact that I can directly post photos to fb w/o having to go into fb and upload the photo is a close second!! :)"
But not everyone is so wide-eyed over Apple's latest device. The biggest complaint seems to be about Apple's decision to replace Google Maps with its own in-house Maps app. Problem is, it doesn't seem to be fully fleshed out.
"Thanks to Apple maps I was standing in line outside a furniture store to get the iPhone 5," said Jabez John on Facebook.
"Apple maps are so bad. So so bad. Clouds, covering the whole of solihull. pic.twitter.com/W0190KKO," wrote The Backward Man on Twitter.
Based on initial impressions, it looks like the iPhone 5 is a solid handset with amazing 4G LTE speeds, but it might be hampered by software issues. Don't worry though, Google already has a Google Maps app ready - pending Apple's approval of course.
