Smartphone launches and unveiling seem to be in vogue in the month of September as HTC has now announced that their new Windows 8 Phones, the Window Phone 8X and 8S, will launch in September.

According to HTC Director of Public Relations Tom Harlin, the phones were "born out of a close collaboration with Microsoft and HTC."

The phone is made out of polycarbonate and comes in an assortment of colors including purple, red, neon green and black. The reasoning behind the colors was to match the vibrancy of the tiles interface in Windows 8.

The phones will have an 8 megapixel camera and Super LCD 2HD screens. The 8X's screen is a 4.3 inch screen while the 8S has a 4 inch display. Both displays are covered in Gorilla Glass which is known for its exemplary damage resistance and for its lightweight nature.

The phone will be centered around a homescreen filled with live tiles (apps) and will also include Skype, turn by turn navigation and near field communication (NFC) which will enable people to transfer information or make payments by simply tapping phones together.

HTC is the latest company releasing Windows 8 phones as Nokia and Samsung have already announced their own batch of phones utilizing the same Operating System.

The 8S and 8X will release in November at 140 mobile carriers around the world. It will be available with T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. There has been no mention of pricing as of yet.

The Windows 8 Phones will join the Samsung Galaxy S3, the Apple iPhone 5 in this holiday's battle for smartphone supremacy.
