Donald Trump and Tiger Woods are currently working on a big golfing project in the Middle East.
In a report by Yahoo! Sports, hard-core golf enthusiast and golf course tycoon Donald Trump recently hired the golf legend to design an 18-hole course at his giant property, which is located in Dubai.
On December 9, Trump announced that he partnered with Tiger Woods for his new golf course called the Trump World Golf Club. The billionaire added that Woods will be a great asset in the development of the course.
According to ESPN, Tiger Woods is actually new at being a golf course designer, but he has a string of design projects under his belt in the past few years. His first project in Mexico is set to open before 2014 ends, called El Cardonal, located in Cabo San Lucas.
Previously, he also had a design project in the Middle East in 2008 and was reportedly paid $55 million. The course was called Tiger Woods Dubai but it had to be stopped because of the struggling economy in 2010. He had another prior project, the cliffs in South Carolina, outside of Asheville which had to be suspended due to lack of developer funds.
Currently, Woods is designing a golf course just outside Houston, Texas called Blue Jacket National. It is set to open before 2015 ends.
His new collaboration with Trump is scheduled to launch in 2017. The property reportedly spans 55-million square feet and is located at Akoya Oxygen in Dubai. Trump himself will be managing the property.
Tiger recently returned to competition at the start of December 2014 after back problems caused him to withdraw for four months. He said in the same ESPN report that he will only work on two to three design projects simultaneously and that he plans to continue playing in professional golf tournaments.
Donald Trump has been a developer of golf courses for over a decade, establishing a reputation for being one of the top golf course developers in the world.
In a report by Telegraph, Trump said about his new partnership with Woods, "Tiger Woods is the biggest name in professional golf. His expertise comes from winning on every great course in the world, including his win at the WGC Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral, Miami. Tiger will be a tremendous asset in developing the course at the Trump World Golf Club, Dubai and together we will be doing something very special."
