Enjoying the new Apple Maps? If the reports are true, then probably not. Apparently might have jumped the gun when it decided to scrap Google Maps for its own in-house developed mapping system. Here's some good news though - Google Maps is on its way to iOS 6.
The Guardian first reported that Google was hard at work in getting their more popular (and more well-received) mapping system out to Apple's mobile devices. And now, thanks to a report from 9to5Mac, we know that famed developer Steve Stroughton-Smith has confirmed it:
"The same sources say that Google is preparing a Google Maps app for iOS 6, which will appear in time. No official statement has been made and there will inevitably be questions over whether Apple will approve it in the App Store. (Apple might not, on the basis that it "competes with existing functionality", but would invite a further backlash if it did.)"
Apple's new iOS 6 offers a ton features, over 200 according to Apple. The ones you will notice are the lack of Google Maps, and the lack of an in-house YouTube app, which you can download separately.
But there are a ton of features meant to make your life easier. Facebook is now integrated into Apple's mobile operating system and will be at your fingertips. The new iOS also offers features such as an improved Siri (which can hopefully understand your dialect better).
Whether you are happy with the new Apple Maps or not, the new iOS 6 offers a ton of compelling features that will surely make your life easier. Granted, Apple has to approve Google Maps, but you can bet they will.
