More Moto users will soon enjoy the wonders and treats brought by the newly released Android L 5.0 Lollipop update.
Christian Today reported that the update will soon roll out to Moto G devices. Earlier, the Android update already arrived on Verizon Moto X 2nd Generation users. The Lollipop update will be made available OTA (over-the-air).
Android Authority reported that the Lollipop update has finally been rolled out for the original Moto G in India.
"Despite the year change and subsequent model upgrade, Motorola is still continuing to deliver on the dynamic device. As of today, Lollipop is rolling out for the original Moto G in India, an impressive feat no doubt realized in part because of the stock-like experience the smartphone uses. This would actually be quite a fitting present as we approach the device's one year anniversary," Matthew Benson's report at the Android Authority said.
The report cited screen captures from a Moto G dual-sim variant user who is based in India. It added that this may suggest that the Lollipop update will soon hit Moto G devices in the North America.
"It's truly incredible when one considers just how drastic a change Motorola has made in the past few years. Having once skinned its devices to almost unrecognizable degrees with the oft-panned MotoBlur, in the Google era, Motorola turned it into a lean, mean, customer pleasing machine. Considering that two of the companies 2013 devices are now running Lollipop so quick after the OS's release, it begins to highlight just how cumbersome some OEM skins are, although even Samsung has managed to get 5.0 out the door unusually fast!" it added.
Christian Today citing NDTV said that Motorola have been sending "soak test invites" to Moto G users. The invite reportedly says, "Thanks for joining the Motorola Feedback Network. We are inviting owners of the Moto G in India to participate in an early preview of a new software release and provide feedback."
According to a statement earlier released by Motorola, some of the noticeable changes on the new Lollipop update include the new and improved Material Design, new animations, themes, widgets, new lockscreen, improved notifications, priority mode, better Interruptions, new Downtime feature in the Moto Assist, new flashlight option, and multiple user accounts. The update also boasts of the new battery saver mode wherein users can now take a peek of what's left of their batteries and how much time it needs to recharge. The new battery saver mode also extends battery life by reducing the phone's performance and background data operations.
In its blog, Motorola announced that other Motorola devices will also get the Lollipop update. The list includes Moto G 2nd Generation, DROID Turbo, Moto X First Generation, Moto G First Generation, Moto G with 4G LTE, DROID Ultra DROID Maxx, DROID Mini, and Moto E. Other phones that have previously received the Lollipop update include Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10.
