A Japanese magazine dedicated to Mac users earlier revealed that Apple is creating a bigger iPad version called iPad Pro. To date, Apple has not yet confirmed this but rumors and speculations about the device continue to hound the Internet.
Mac Rumors, citing the January issue of Japanese magazine Mac Fan, reported that the new tablet will also be called "iPad Air Plus." It will be bigger than the usual iPads currently out in the market. The new device, according to the magazine, will have a 12.2-inch LCD display. It will reportedly measure 305.31mm x 220.8mm x 7mm or 12 inches x 8.7 inches x 0.28 inches.
Know Your Mobile said that reports about a larger iPad have already arisen since 2012. The larger iPad was then supposedly to be called " iPad Maxi."
The rumors about these bigger iPads came back in August this year. According to Bloomberg's unidentified sources, the alleged bigger iPad will measure 12.9 inches diagonally. At present, iPads have 9.7-inch and 7.9-inch displays. "The Cupertino, California-based company has been working with suppliers for at least a year to develop a new range of larger touch-screen devices, said the people," the report added.
But Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller refused to answer questions when Bloomberg tried getting her reaction. The report also said that there are attempts to increase the screen size of iPhones. This obviously pushed through with the release of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus weeks later. The report said the alleged new iPad will arrive in early 2015.
Business Insider said that the new iPad will also be a little bit thicker than the newly released iPad Air 2 which is 6.1mm thin.
Mac Otakara was the first to announce that the new iPad will have a 12.2 inch LCD. The blog also revealed that the device will be out in the third quarter of next year.
"My source says, front projection form-factor will be similar to Surface Pro 3, and thickness will be designed to between iPhone 6's and iPhone 6 pro's. It will be thicker than iPad Air 2," Mac Otakara said.
The iPad Pro was earlier scheduled to be mass produced in the second half of 2014, Digitimes said, but was delayed to make way for the new 12-inch MacBook Air.
The new iPad, Mac Rumors citing Mac Fan said, will have the new A9 processor. This is an upgrade from the A8X processor that the newly released iPad Air 2 has.
Mac Rumors also noted that there is a high possibility that the new iPad Pro will look just like the existing iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini. It also said that the new iPad may possess a dual top and bottom speakers to improve stereo audio.
The Japanese magazine also revealed that Apple is creating another tablet, the iPad Mini 4. This new tablet, Mac Rumors said, is expected to get the same A8X processor. It is also expected to get a thinner design like the iPad Air 2.
The alleged two tablets -- iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4 -- are expected to be launched "between April and June" next year, Mac Rumors said.
