Many fans have been imagining crazy scenarios involving the World Wrestling Entertainment characters and one of these may just come true with the crossover between WWE and the Flintstones.
A new animated film "The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown", is set to launch early in 2015 and will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray starting March 17, 2015. In a report by TechTimes.com, a new trailer was featured showing the possibilities if the dinosaur-filled world of Fred Flintstone and friends coincided with modern day WWE superstars.
The cartoon movie featured famous WWE wrestlers battling with the cavemen of the popular Hanna Barbera TV show. IGN reported that even the names of the WWE superstars were improved to fit their Stone Age roles. John Cena was changed to John Cena-Stone, Daniel Bryan became Daniel Bry-Rock, the Bella Twins were renamed the Boulder Twins and Vince McMahon was dubbed Mr. McMagma. Other wrestling stars presented in animated form include The Undertaker, CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and Mark Henry.
In the trailer featured by WrestlingInc.com, there was one part where Fred Flintstone was in the center of the ring at the Bedrock Sports Arena, announcing the wrestlers. Fans may initially expect that he will not be part of the hardcore action. Subsequently, however, Fred was shown inside the ring as if preparing to fight. He tore his clothes off and revealed a red and white wrestling costume. He exclaimed as he put his game face on, "Let's Yabadabadoo this!"
More exciting parts were shown in the trailer. CM Punk was presented in cartoon form saying, "I am the best in the prehistoric world!" The Undertaker performed his signature Tombstone move but whirled his opponent in a dervish before driving his head straight into the canvass. One part showed Mr. McMagma seeming to want to strike a deal with Fred Flintstone to earn a lot of clams. Fred was also shown telling Barney Robles that the main event would be a rematch between Barney and CM Punk Rock.
In the same IGN report, it says that it is not actually the first time that WWE stars crossed paths with cartoon characters. Earlier in 2014, the WWE appeared in a Scooby-Doo special where the mystery-solving friends successfully unraveled a secret at WrestleMania.
"The Flintstones and WWE: Stone Age Smackdown" is produced by Hanna-Barbera, WWE Studios and Warner Bros. Animation and features the real voices of the WWE superstars.
