U.S. consumers who have been holding their breath on more details about the stateside version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can finally exhale because Samsung's spilled the beans.
The Korean electronics company stated that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be available in the United States in mid-November.
Samsung also mentioned that the same five carriers that launched the Galaxy S3 - AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular - will be carrying the Galaxy Note 2.
If the launch is anything like the Galaxy S3 (which faced device shortages), this could mean a series of staggered release dates that could run into early December. But expect carriers T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular to try and get it out as quick as they can since neither one of them are carrying the iPhone 5, which releases September 21 on AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
The pricing will be determined by each carrier. T-Mobile charged a slightly higher price for the Galaxy S3 back in June since it was the only carrier to offer it in stores on launch day, and the same could be the same for the Galaxy Note 2. Other than that, expect a similar price across all five carriers.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a unique device that offers something in between the size and computing power of a tablet with the features of a phone. Dubbed a 'phablet,' the Galaxy Note 2 will ship with the same specs in the United States as the international model.
This means that the handset will sport a massive 5.55-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a 1280X720 display. It's 1.6GHz quad-core processor will run the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean, and the phone will also be 4G LTE. The phablet's standout feature is the S Pen stylus, which has been redesigned to further Samsung's theme with the Galaxy Note 2 of "Be Creative."
Stay tuned for U.S. pricing updates as carriers slowly start to roll out details.
