After an eventful opening day to the Champions League, the final four groups get underway in what should be an equally exciting day. Let's take a look at Group G.
Barcelona vs. Spartak Moscow 2:45 PM
Who has it harder? Moscow who must go to Barcelona to play arguably ht best team in the world? Or Barcelona who knows expectations are at their highest for them? Make no mistake, Barcelona are the favorites here and with Lionel Messi expected to start again (he came off the bench in Saturday's 4-1 win over Getafe), the Russians may have more than they can handle.
Edge: Barcelona looks to be in peak form and should easily win this one barring some disaster.
Prediction: Barcelona wins 5-0.
Benfica vs. Celtic 2:45 PM
Benfica is currently in a tie for first in the Portuguese League and is the favorite to take second place in the group. Their first challenge may be the weakest squad in the group in Celtic who may channel the underdog tag and pull out a few surprises.
Edge: Oscar Cardozo, Rodrigo, Enzo Perez, and Eduardo Salvio would indicate an edge for Benfica but Celtic is playing at home and has only lost two of 19 matches at home in the Champions League. More importantly, the home side has always won when these two teams have met even though Benfica has a +8 goal differential in their last two matches.
Prediction: Benfica wins 2-0.
