While some are already enjoying the wonders of the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update, some Android phones' operating systems are left outdated. However, users of HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 may no longer have to wait for long as the update is reportedly on its way.
A report from Techno Buffalo revealed that the Lollipop update might finally roll out on HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 this Monday, December 1, following series of delays in the past.
It noted that the announcement came directly from one of HTC's executives. It cited the tweets of HTC Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi. Versi on his recent tweets dated November 28 and 29 patiently explained to his followers that due to some "complications," the roll out was pushed back to Monday.
To quote him "...the SW for M7 & M8 with the fixes are in Google's QA lab. Their target is to provide TA by EOD Monday."
He added, "...If we get TA by EOD Monday, I'll have the SW OTA the same night (in a few hours of TA)."
According to Android Central, "technical approval is one of the last steps before the update rolls out over the air." It also noted that even if it is still unsure whether the roll out will push through on Monday, HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 users will likely have to wait for a short time to get the Lollipop update.
In mid-October, HTC announced on Twitter that the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 will get the Lollipop update "within 90 days of receiving the final software from Google."
Techno Buffalo noted that the two phones were first scheduled to get the Lollipop update starting November 17 but was pushed back to November 21, citing Mo Versi's tweet which said, "...got delayed - new target is Friday. Working aggressively to get it out as quickly as possible. Thanks. Mo."
But the November 21 roll out was again delayed, citing Versi's tweet dated November 20 which said, "Apologize, we had to re-spin SW. Tomorrow will not happen. Will advise once approval from Google is received. Thx."
Other HTC phones expected to get the Lollipop update include HTC One Max, HTC One E8, HTC One Mini, HTC One Mini 2, HTC Desire 820, HTC Desire 510, HTC Desire 516, HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 610, HTC Desire 601, HTC Butterfly, and HTC Butterfly S, The Android Soul reported. It noted that most of these phones will probably get the update next year. It also mentions that it is not certain if the HTC Droid DNA will get the update.
