Rumors are circulating that Sony will be challenging its rivals and will raise the bar higher with the release of its new flagship devices, Sony Xperia Z4 smartphone and its phablet Xperia Z4 Ultra.
Since the Japanese electronics giant is known for its participation in various trade shows, Christian Today suggests that the two new products will be unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 in January.
Meanwhile, it was earlier predicted by Air Herald that the new smartphone will be unveiled on March next year during the Mobile World Congress. This was also reported by the Android Origin citing unnamed "trusted sources."
What do we know about these devices so far?
According to Air Herald, the new Xperia Z4 will be larger with a 5.5 inch display. It will also have a 2560 x 1440 quad HD resolution. Its processor will also probably be upgraded to 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor. It will also have an upgraded graphics chip to Andreno 430 from Xperia Z3's Andreno 330.
Concept Phones said that based on the concept image made by Ben Ling in October, the Sony Xperia Z4 will be 6.5 mm thick and will weigh 150 grams. The RAM will also be upgraded to 4 GB.
Sony Z-series phones are known for their 20.7MP cameras. So, the same is also expected in the new flagship device. The catch is this would probably have a 1/2.3 inch sensor and LED flash, a 23 mm G Lens, an ISO that can reach up to 12.800 and Exmor RS sensor, Concept Phones revealed. Aside from these, the camera is also built for 8x digital zoom and can do 4K video recording. Meanwhile, the front camera is expected to be upgraded to a 3.2 megapixel, it added.
The Xperia Z4 may also be released with the new Android update, the Android 5.0 Lollipop, as its operating system, Air Herald noted. The report said that an upgrade in the device's audio is also being eyed. It said it expects a "high-res audio" and a dedicated amp in the new device. Air Herald also claimed that the device will be hailed as "one of the highest quality phones on the market for video playback."
As for the storage, the smartphone is expected to get an upgrade to a 32 GB or a 64 GB internal storage, Concept Phones revealed. It also said that it might come with a Bluetooth 4.1, Category 6 LTE, and a 3300 mAh battery.
Meanwhile, Christian Today reported that the new phablet Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra is speculated to come with a 5.9-inch qHD Triluminos display that might get a 16 MP rear camera. It is said to get a Snapdragon 805 chipset and a 4 GB of RAM.
