According to the plot summary provided by Universal Pictures to IMDb, the story "begins at the dawn of time." It narrates how these "single-celled yellow organisms" evolved through time serving "the most despicable of masters." After most of these masters have died, the minions had nobody to serve and were left depressed. So minion Kevin, with his buddies "teenage rebel" Stuart and "lovable little" Bob, embarked on a new journey where they meet female villain Scarlet Overkill. The movie is set in the 1960s and in several areas such as Antarctica, New York City, and London. Their biggest challenge in this movie is how to "save all Minionkind from annihilation."
Earlier this month, Illumination released the movie's official trailer. Watch it here:
The movie will hit theaters in the summer of 2015.
